Welcome to the 1827 Collection, a Fine Country Living Primitive exclusive collection of handmade items.
Take a step back in time to the year 1827 when our own home here in Springville, Pennsylvania, was built by Eliza and Albert Beardsley, one year after marrying and moving here from Kent, Connecticut.
I want this collection to reflect the way things were decades before the Civil War began....simple and primitive.

#1055 ~ Goin' to Meeting ~ Rag Stuffed Quaker Dolls
Inspired by Friends Sally and Barbarajene at our Meeting, I've created these special Quaker dolls with much love and care!
Traditionally, church dolls were made by Early American Mothers to keep their children occupied during church services. I've created my "Quakerly" version using conservative Quaker clothing style with a primitive twist. Since Quaker Meetings are silent worship, these simple beauties would be very useful in keeping children, and some adults, quiet during Meeting!
These are made from muslin and stuffed with rags giving them the true feel of antique rag dolls. I heavily stained the dolls bodies for a very early look.
Their dresses and Quaker bonnets are made of solid black cotton fabric purchased from an Amish store, the same fabric that is used for cape dresses. The cape is made from heavily stained osnaburg fabric fastened with a rusty safety pin for that touch of prim! Everything is sewn on with care, no glue was used on these special ladies.
They have no arms or legs, but would sit nicely on a shelf, in a bowl or tucked inside your favorite doll's loving arms.
All are handmade, therefore, no two will ever be the same. Designed by me, each one will be signed and dated.
Measure approx. 9 inches tall.

#2020 Ashen Hearth Handpoured Taper Candles
Absolutely Colonial! These handpoured taper candles are dirtied to give them an ashen look and seem to have come right out of a New England hearth.
Gather several together as I have done and place them in a wooden bowl for display or tuck a few into abasket. Bundle three together and tie with a strip of fabric and place on top of a stack of antique books next to a candlestick.
Measure 6" long, each sold separately.
